Abstract

Several problems are revealed into lights in the case of handling of compound hypermedia WWW documents (document-like objects) of the current Internet. The requirements for a new container architecture are discussed and as a solution, the Portable HyperMedia (PHM) format is developed. A set of metadata is attached to the compound hypermedia document which is compatible with the architecture of the Warwick Framework. Structure and operations on PHM are discussed and basic tool set is introduced for handling as well.
